What To Buy And Avoid At The Grocery Store

Looking to get some fresh new ideas when it comes to food? Well, you’ve come to the right article! I’ll give some general don’ts when it comes to food and some great foods that you can eat!

Things To Avoid When Eating

Although I already have an article covering the foods to not eat here, I want to give the TLDR synopsis here.

In general, you want to be avoiding frozen meals and anything that is over-processed. These foods tend to be high in things like sodium while being low in good fats and fast carbs.

Fast carbs are a type of carb that the body can quickly absorb and use. There are other types of carbs that are more slow-acting, but we will go into carbs and their different types in another article.

Another thing that is less obvious is protein bars. A lot of these aren’t very filling but are packed with saturated fats and added sugars. So just be aware of what kind of protein bars you are buying and look at the nutrition facts!

Things To Look For In The Store

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk about things you should be on the lookout for at the store. I’ll talk about general things you should be on the lookout for and go into more specific details about different things in later articles.

Previously I mentioned how you want to avoid frozen foods, but there are exceptions to that rule! Things that are frozen, but good for you, are things like frozen fruits and vegetables. These last longer than fruits and veggies that sit out or in the fridge.

Frozen fruit is great for smoothies by the way!

Other things you should be on the lookout for are things like; natural and/or low sodium peanut butter, Greek yogurt, lean ground beef, chicken breast, rice, raw honey, and other simple foods. The more simple you can keep your ingredients and meals, the better nutrition stats you will have, generally speaking.

Don’t forget to get spices and other things like lemons and limes to spice your meals up without adding the calories!

This is a very general overview and everyone’s bodies will react differently to different foods, so I can’t give you a specific meal plan that will work for you, but you could always get a trainer or go to somewhere like Fiverr, just make sure that hire someone that has experience either way!
